Arcadia Wood Flooring is a wood flooring business in Arcadia, CA with more than 20 years spent sanding, repairing, refinishing and installing hardwood. Our days are split between floors that have been down for generations, such as oak strip and parquet from the 1950s and 1960s, and newer engineered and wide plank floors in larger houses.
What ties that work together is a habit of checking before committing. A floor tells you a lot if you take the time to read it, and most expensive mistakes in this trade come from sanding, scraping or replacing on a guess. We would rather spend an extra hour measuring than spend your money fixing something that could have been avoided.
Our Approach

Older floors get a chance to stay: where the wood allows it, we restore parquet and oak strip in place, resetting loose tiles and matching missing pieces before any sanding begins, and when parquet is lifting, the adhesive under it is a question we answer before tiles come up. Because most Arcadia housing predates 1980, we confirm the build year before a sander is scheduled, since pre-1978 finish and paint layers fall under the federal lead-safe renovation rule. Finishes come from products legal to apply in the South Coast air district, which limits wood coatings to 275 grams per liter, not from a national catalog.
Newer floors get the same care in a different form: on engineered hardwood we measure the wear layer before promising a full sand, because a thin veneer can take a screen and recoat but not a sanding, and on wide plank floors we take moisture readings and write them down before any board is blamed for a seasonal gap. Stairs are quoted by the tread, riser and nosing, and when water or smoke has damaged a floor, we record photos and moisture readings an adjuster can use. Homes in the city’s homeowners association areas can plan interior floor work without waiting on design review, since a city resolution keeps interior-only work outside it. Every job comes with a written room-by-room schedule showing when furniture, rugs and people can return, whether the house holds owners, tenants or several generations.
